Quality Issues
Our Promise: Fair, Fast & Customer-Focused Resolutions

Not entirely satisfied with the print quality of your newspapers or magazines? If so, please feel free to submit a formal complaint. We take every issue seriously and guarantee prompt feedback and a transparent resolution. Our team of experts will guide you through the process and assess your case thoroughly. You can count on us for a fair and solution-oriented decision.
How to Report an Issue – Step by Step
We want the process to be quick and easy for you. To speed up your enquiry, please follow these steps:
① Send an email to info@smartpaper24.com or use our contact form.
② Please state your order number and describe the defect or the reason for your dissatisfaction in as much detail as possible.
③ Ideally, please attach clear, high-resolution photos showing the issue.
④ Please also specify how many copies are affected and on which pages the spoils (printing errors) can be seen.
⑤ Finally, let us know your preferred resolution and highlight the urgency of your request if you need your newspapers or magazines for a specific event or deadline.
Our team will review your enquiry in detail, check the specimen copy of your order held in our archives, and present you with a timely solution.
Spotted an Error After Ordering? Let Us Know Immediately!
Did you find a mistake shortly after completing your order? For example, a typo on the front page, an incorrect photo, or the wrong page order? If so, please contact us immediately! As long as the printing process hasn't started yet, we will pause your order straight away. This gives you enough time to send us a corrected print file or, if you used our Online Designer, to update your project. We will then generate a new PDF for you and review it together.
Our Solutions – Reprint, Credit, or Discount

As part of the FUNKE Mediengruppe, we stand for premium magazine and newspaper printing of the highest standard. However, in the rare event of a printing error or similar issue, we can offer the following options after our internal quality check:
- Reprint: For clear defects or transit damage. Examples include missing pages, heavy colour casts, torn paper, or damaged delivery. We will restart production and dispatch the replacements promptly.
- Credit Note: If there are verifiable printing errors but the newspapers or magazines are no longer required (e.g. due to an expired deadline).
- Discount/Voucher: For minor deviations or spoils within standard industry tolerances. Examples: barely visible scratches, tiny creases in the paper, or slight colour variations compared to the monitor view. In these cases (subject to review by our print experts), you will receive a fair discount voucher for your next order.
Since newspapers and magazines are relatively delicate print products, we generally recommend ordering a few extra copies. Often, you can get a much higher quantity for just a small additional cost! This ensures you're always on the safe side.
How to Avoid Issues: Our Pre-Print Checklist

Most issues can be avoided when print data and expectations are perfectly aligned. Our checklist helps you eliminate common errors in advance and set realistic expectations for the print quality. Taking a moment to double-check before uploading or confirming your preview can save you time, money, and hassle. Especially with custom newspaper and magazine printing from as little as one copy, clean layouts and correct file settings are vital. This ensures you get exactly the result you expect – reliable, legible, and professional.
Many of these points refer to our PDF upload service, where you can print your own files as a real newspaper or magazine. However, the newspaper templates in our Online Designer are already pre-formatted, allowing you to start designing right away without any technical print expertise.
✅ Check Your Preview Carefully: Whether you use the PDF upload or our Online Designer, you can check your newspapers and magazines in the preview before placing your order. This shows you the layout and pages exactly as they will appear once printed.
✅ Image Quality: For the best possible print result, we recommend using images with a minimum resolution of 145 dpi. For your information: We regularly print newspapers and magazines with lower-resolution images that still look excellent. However, 145+ dpi will definitely help you get the maximum detail out of your photos.
✅ Colour Profile: To achieve the most accurate colour reproduction, please use the FOGRA39 colour profile. You can download the FOGRA39 profile for free here.
✅ Factor in Shipping Buffer: Please plan ahead and avoid ordering at the very last minute. After all, these are personalised, freshly printed products. For time-sensitive projects, we strongly advise ordering a few days early to avoid stress and tight deadlines.
✅ Order a Proof Copy: Especially for larger print runs, ordering a single proof remains the best way to ensure top-quality results. A proof copy allows you to evaluate the final print image, colour intensity, and photo quality in person. Thanks to our flexible digital printing, you can order a single copy for review at any time before commissioning the full final run.
